Conference: Helping Vulnerable Children in our Schools and Communities

Thursday 14 November

Lancastrian Suite, Dunston, Gateshead

Please find the flyer attached here

A range of speakers include representatives of Children North East, Great North Children’s Hospital,  Tyne and Wear Citizens and North East Wellbeing looking at how we can improve outcomes for vulnerable children. The event is aimed at anyone working with children in the education, health and social sector.

The line up includes Dr Mike McKean and Professor Chris Drinkwater and they will be talking about how up-stream services in education and health have been working together on social prescribing models in Newcastle.

It is tied into the Zone West initiative and we are hoping to show how the arts sector can make interventions that are robust enough to hold the interest of children and enable practitioner from across disciplines to work together.

There will be many examples of colourful and evidence-based work happening in the schools and communities and some live puppets too. I would love it if health visitors, school nurses were sitting alongside hospital doctors and school teachers to think through what we need to do to enhance the offer we are making to children in this time of austerity.
