Gemma is a lived experience theatre maker and community artist, specialising in Creative Health practices that support mental health and wellbeing.
Working in community arts since 2007, she has co-founded two arts and health organisations, been artistic director to Out of Character Theatre Company (comprising of people who use mental health services), led artistic engagement programmes for charities to theatres, transformed a garage into a black box studio, led socially engaged festivals, programmed for an arts centre, taught in higher and further education, and regularly uses her wide range of skills as a freelance creative producer.
Gemma is based in Bournemouth, and is currently leading on developing Creative Health in Dorset through her work as an associate with Arts Development Company. She has a special interest in developing work as a CHWA champion around inclusion and diversity, and practitioner development in the South West.
