The Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance (CHWA) would like to commission an artist based in Derby or Derbyshire to create the physical awards for the winners of the CHWA 2025 Awards. The Award winners will be announced at the CHWA 2025 virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday 23 April, 3-5pm.

The Alliance are looking for an artist to creatively respond to each of the award categories (Collective Power, Practising Well and Healthy People and Planet), creating 3 new artworks that reflect the themes and celebrate the creativity, curiosity and commitment of people working in the culture/health/wellbeing sector in the UK.

Artists' Brief:

  • The creation of 3 new artworks reflecting the themes of the 3 CHWA 2025 Awards; Collective Power, Practising Well and Healthy People and Planet
  • The awards can be any media; their largest dimensions must fit within an A4 sheet. (3-dimensional objects are welcome but they cannot be taller/wider than A4).
  • The artworks need to be complete and ready to be shown (live or recorded) at the awards ceremony on Weds 23 April 2025
  • The artist should create a short, homemade video introducing the awards. Please see Elaine Lim Newton’s film for the CHWA Awards 2020, here.
  • We would like to see evidence of the use of sustainable materials and processes.
  • The artworks need to include the words “CHWA Award Winner 2025” and each relevant award category (“Collective Power”, “Practising Well” and “Healthy People and Planet”). The designs can incorporate the CHWA logo or colours (above), but this isn’t essential.
  • The selected artist will be required to keep in regular contact with the Alliance and share images of the work in progress. Images of the completed artworks will need to be sent by Monday 7 April 2025.
  • The selected artist and artworks will be promoted on the CHWA website and social media. The artist will also be acknowledged at the awards ceremony.
  • We would like the artist to send the completed artworks to the winners immediately after the Awards ceremony. The artist will be responsible for safely packing and sending the works.

Fee

£1,000 to create the artworks and introductory video.

£200 materials/production costs

CHWA will cover the costs of packing and sending the completed artworks to the winners separately. A payment schedule will be confirmed in discussion with the artist upon commission.
